Meeting the demands of a young, growing family was the top priority of this project.
The 1960s house, located in a Conservation Area close to Blackheath Village, needed practical changes, such as a second entrance, but there was also an emphasis on creating a large sociable space and maximising its connection with the garden.

Reconfiguring the existing ground floor layout as well as extending the first floor over the garage, converting the loft and creating a large contemporary extension to the rear, will future-proof the home, allowing it to be used by multiple generations of the family.
With three separate zones for cooking, dining, and lounging, the architecture of the rear extension defines these spaces using differing heights and depths.
After visiting a few of Ben and Jo’s completed projects we were really impressed with their approach. Their designs do a great job of meeting our brief and we feel reassured we’re in safe hands.
We can’t wait for their visuals to be brought to life, for the children to have more space, and to be able to enjoy the open-plan living.
Generous glazing to the kitchen and dining area offers views of the entire ground floor, while the kitchen joinery compliments the architecture with a mix of natural timber and neutral factory-sprayed units with a marble worktop.
The snug area provides an additional light and sunny seating space with glazing to all three external walls as well as a rooflight above. An oriel window gives undisturbed views of the garden.
