Located on the edge of a Conservation Area in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Beck Barn is a classic example of the traditional farming structures found in the area.
The barn had already been sympathetically converted for use as a home. Our brief was to extend the property to take advantage of the uninterrupted views towards Cracoe and Thorpe Fells.

It has revolutionised how we feel about the property. We look forward to spending time there even more. The view is incredible, and you get the sunshine streaming through in the mornings.
Previous planning applications for this work had been unsuccessful but, after collaboration with the local authority, we were able to develop a design that ticked the boxes for all parties. Whilst contemporary in nature, the extension draws influence from local traditional timber agricultural structures.
Clad in Siberian Larch, specifically chosen to blend harmoniously with the course rubble walls, the wood will weather to a uniform silver-grey.
It was not an easy planning process and I cannot speak highly enough of the support Ben gave us. He had a very professional touch, but you could tell he really cared about it and was able to grasp why it was so important to us.
